Hi, I’m Maddy, I'm an 18 year old journalism major located in Boston and New York, and I, like many girls my age, grew up on the internet. I grew up in a small town, and went to an even smaller catholic school, so from a young age, the internet became my vice. I consumed an endless amount of social media, played video games with strangers, and spent my nights binge-watching my favorite YouTubers. In a way, this endless consumption formed who I am today. It formed the majority of my generation: the first generation to grow up in the new digital age of cellphones and social media. This everlasting access to dopamine-boosting content and virtual connections has brought the world into a new era. An era where excessive individualism is praised, new philosophies are created, and real human connection has begun to lose its meaning. But, as society is crawling towards the brink of dystopia, and a glowing screen dictates my life, I still have to experience this coming of age. However, I have decided to narrate my transition into womanhood on this very blog; through personal narratives and challenging philosophies on our society, I want to explore how living in the digital age is contributing to the formation of not just my womanhood, but yours too.
